Nigeria celebrated National Children’s Day on an Xtraice rink
More than 6000 children skated on the Xtraice synthetic surface in a playful day organized in the main square of Lagos.
The rink which was 200m2, welcomed thousands of kids of which for almost all of them was their very first time skating. Given the current and recent difficulties endured by the country and specifically the school system, the event was organized as a method to reinstate enthusiasm among the students by offering them new experiences.
The ice rink was the first ever installed in Lagos, Nigeria, with which a population of 20 million is the largest city in Africa. We were thrilled to be part of such a monumental and historic event in the city and the citizens seemed to react equally favorable as the media reports and TV stations broadcasted National Childrens Day.
Furthermore, the success achieved with this event has resulted in new installations in Nigeria, which will take place in the coming months.
This is the second time that Xtraice has installed an ice rink in Nigeria. One year ago, a British school choose to install an Xtraice rink as an alternative activity to offer its students.
Over the next few weeks we will be in Africa, China, Indonesia, South Korea, France and Spain, if you would like to meet us or visit one of our rinks, let us know!
