For the fist time, Xtraice has participated at the recent Dubai Entertainment, Amusement and Leisure (DEAL) exhibition. This exhibition, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, was the largest in the event’s 17-year history, with a 20% growth on DEAL 2010 figures. And, of course, Xtraice –as leader ecological ice rink manufacturer- was there to show its revolutionary synthetic ice and skating surface technology, as well as to astonish visitors, customers and prospectors with the ecological ice that has broken all the rules around the world.

In fact, the experience as exhibitor at DEAL has been very successful for Xtraice: more than 100 business contacts have been made during these days, with potential customers from more than 8 Arabic countries. And, according to Viktor Meier, Marketing Director who attended this event, Xtraice has already confirmed the participation for the next year, since the Middle East is a very important market for the company: this market is showing a great growth in its leisure industry and it is a great opportunity to offer Xtraice leisure and sport ecological ice rinks solutions to the region.

On january 26th 2011, His Royal Highnes Prince Felipe of Spain handed Xtraice president Francisco Ortiz the “Alas Prize” in the exporting initiation category in recognition to the company’s commercial activity abroad. During the last three years Xtraice has reached more than 40 countries in 5 continents with its ecological ice rinks that have revolutionized the ice skating business. The ceremony held in the city of Punta Umbria in Huelva, Spain was organized by Extenda, the foreign promotion agency of Andalucia, in its 25th aniversary. As mencioned by the economic counseler of the andalusian local government, the key to Xtraice’s success strongly depends in its permanent investment in Research & Development to innovate and perfectionate their patented ecological ice surface that has deserved the wonders of leading brands like Disney or the NHL Florida Panthers team.

Xtraice is honored with the keys of Miami Dade County

The Beacon Council, together with the Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez and members of the Board of County Commissioners presented an official Key to the County to Xtraice. It is a recognition to the company’s effort to expand new operations to the community business. The award was handed to Lisette Villamor, Xtraice Sales Manager in North America, at the annual Miami-Dade County Key Ceremony held in the Mandarin Oriental Ballroom on December 9th, 2010. Mr. Jordi Boada, Director of the Extenda business promotion office in Miami and Mr. Fuisan, trade representative of the Spanish Embassy, also attended the ceremony in representation of Spanish authorities. Other awarded companies included Visa, Discovery Latin America, National Molding and U.S. Gas & Electric.

Xtraice skating rink is the jewel of Ulan Bator Attraction Park in Mongolia

“Your skating rink is the jewel of our park” stated Bolor Boldbaatar, Project Manager of the Attraction Park Ulan Bator, Mongolia.
After being installed last July, Xtraice skating rink has become the most used attraction by the visitors of the park, who are surprised for the sliding high degree of the synthetic ice and for the possibility of being able to skate during the whole year. The skating rink, with the peculiarity of being a round one, has a dimension of 500 square meters and a diameter of 27 meters. From an environmental point of view, its installation will allow the park to save 2.500 Kwh/día, the equivalent to the consumption of 400 homes, and it will avoid the emission of 215 tonnes of tonnes of CO2 to the atmosphere.

The highest ice rink in the world will be built by XTRAICE. Soon you can skate on XTRAICE synthetic ice on over 1000 feet. The Management of the famous John Hancock Center in Chicago have decided to install an ice rink on the 94th floor observatory deck and choose XTRAICE due to its unprecedented quality.
The XTRAICE synthetic rink will be installed early next year but they have already made tests with excellent results. This sensational news has been featured in popular TV Channels and News outlets like ABC or MSN.

Xtraice. NHL’s first permanent ecological ice rink training facility

The NHL Florida Panthers Management has been very critical towards synthetic ice before they heard about XTRAICE. It took only one very successful test so that the Florida Panthers decided to integrate XTRAICE permanently into their Training Facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. “Based on the very positive test results we have identiﬁ ed XTRAICE as the best synthetic ice surface available in the market” Said Pedro Goncalvez, VP with the NHL Florida Panthers.
The timing was perfect since a 10 Million Dollar expansion of the facility was on the way . However, before permanently integrating the 2045 sqft rink into the facility, the Panthers have used XTRAICE outdoors in smaller units for their Junior training and events. Since July 2010 it is permanently integrated and provides the Florida Panthers an additional venue for training. Pedro Goncalvez further stated that “Using XTRAICE allows the Florida Panthers and the Community to have additional realistic ice time for the training of all hockey moves, drills and tactics”. He finally concluded: “We are happy that this technology is so advanced and recommend it to any hockey facility in need of a real alternative to conventional ice”.
